EFFECTS OF CAFFIENE ON THE BODY AND ITS TREATMENT

Structurally caffeine resembles a molecule called Adenosine which is naturally present in the brain. It is so similar that it neatly fits into the brain cells' receptors for adenosine and effectively block them. Caffeine is consumed and soon after that, it is absorbed through the small intestine and is easily dissolved in the bloodstream. This chemical is both water and fat-soluble, which is why it can penetrate the blood-brain barrier and enter the brain.


Normally when adenosine is fitted in the cells' receptors, it produces afeeling of tiredness. When caffeine molecules are blocking those receptors, they prevent this from occuring; a sense of alertness and energy is experienced until the caffeine is metabolized. The surplus of adenosine cues the adrenal glands to secrete adrenaline which is another such stimulant further increasing alertness and reduces feelings of tiredness.

Caffeine has addictive properties that might lead to physical dependence and it is also more likely to occur in someone that's also suffering from a co-occuring mental health disorder such as insomnia or an eating disorder and that can make it harder for the user to stop. 









When caffeine turns problematic it disrupts your life ina negative way and yet that sometimes becomes unstoppable. It is associated with increase in blood pressure and heart rhythm changes frequently. It also increases the risk of osteoporosis.

Symptoms of caffeine addiction:
  • Dizziness
  • Felling shaky
  • Headaches
  • Increased bloof pressure
  • Nervousness
  • Sleep issues
  • Heart rate abnormalities
To prevent and to be aware of caffeine addiction, one can assess their daily intake, pay attention on how you feel and consider how caffeine will affect other aspects of life.
